Later, the garden saw significant expansion and renovation under the Sikh rulers of the Patiala dynasty, starting with Maharaja Amar Singh in the 18th century.
It was built by Nawab Fidai Khan, a foster brother of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, in 1669.
The summer months (April to June) can be quite hot, with temperatures reaching above 40°C (104°F), making it less comfortable to explore the gardens.
There is a nominal entrance fee to visit the gardens.
